VKIC-APC- Indigenous Study circle, Arunachal Pradesh

Focus: To bring scholars, administrators, intellectuals to reflect and validate traditional practices.
The bi-monthly sitting are currently held on the series Religio-Spiritual Movements of Arunachal Pradesh to sustain Indigenous Faith and Culture.

On 22nd April 2006: The Session was chaired by Shri Techi Gubin, President, Nyishi indigenous Faith and culture. Presentation was on Nanyi Intaya Movement of the Idu Mishmis of Dibang Valley District, Arunachal Pradesh was made by Shri. Rajiv Miso, Research Scholar, Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh.

Salient Points:

• Launched by the Idu Culture and Literaly Society(ICSL) to preserve the Indigenous cultural practices of Idu Mishmis.
• Nanyi means Mother and Intaya means the Sun.
• Igu, the priest, is the backbone of Idu Cultural and social life.
• The Christian missionaries are very active in Idu areas. Thus far a thousand of 12,000 Idus have been converted to Christianity. Requires and Organised, intensely thought out movement, said Sri Rajiv Miso.

• i.Kum Sujatha, Secretary, VKIC, Guwahati, spoke on the experiences of the II international Conference and Gathering of elders.
• i.Experience of China Tour were shared by Shri. Hage Kjeen, the State Co-ordinator, VKIC_APC, Indigenous Study Circle. Attended an International Executive Workshop on Economic Liberation. Commonalties he found sun temple facing east and moon temple facing west. The sense in China and Malaysia is worth Emulating., he Said.
• i.Shri Jorma Begi, Prant Pramukh, Vivekananda Kendra, Arunachal Pradesh gave his concluding remarks.
