Realizing the need for protection and promotion of indigenous culture the VKIC has also embarked upon an ambitious programme of carrying out documentation of several important facets of the culture of Northeast India. Its documentation of Kamakhya, and its associated temples and sculptures has now become the most comprehensive project of its kind
In Arunachal Pradesh documentation and research projects on the Adis one of the ethnic communities has been completed and the editing work has begun. The efforts will result in documentary films and publications, which are path breakers in their respective fields.

Cultural Education at the grassroots: Based on extensive interaction at the grassroots, the VKIC has felt the need to make the common person aware of their rich cultural heritage. Video-shows and photo-exhibitions organized on a regular basis help achieve that objective through Vivekananda Kendra’s Arun Jyoti Project in Arunachal Pradesh.
