International Women's Day Celebration

On 17th March 2023, VKIC Manipur Chapter celebrated International Women's Day in association with Manipur University and SK women's college at SK women's College indoor hall, Nambol, Bishnupur district. Dr. Promodini Devi, Director, Women Study Centre, Manipur University was Chief Guest and Sri H. Jadumani Sharma, Sanyojak,  VK Imphal was guest of honour in the program. Dr. Promodini delivered on innovation and technology for gender equality. Attendance of the program was 70.

Launching Programme Of Vivekananda Kendra Institute Of Culture, Manipur Chapter

A new chapter of Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC) was launched in Manipur on 8th November, 2021. The launching programme was held at the Auditorium of Central Agricultural University, Lamphelpat, Imphal West with a Sanskriti Anveshak Session  on – ‘Indigenous Food Culture, Microbiome and Health’ delivered by Prof. Debananda Ningthoujam of Manipur University. 

Call For Papers : Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Culture of Agriculture in the Communities of Northeast India

The agriculture sector of India in contemporary times faces two challenges. One, intensification of land use to raise food production for the rising population, and two, the challenges posed by natural resource degradation and climate change caused particularly by variable rainfall and extreme weather events.

Tribal Studies: Search for the Common Thread of Unity

The micro data of different communities of India –its castes and tribes – if put together and viewed in macro frame-work often leads us to the threads of unity. The apparent diversity, the cultural plurality gives way to commonality of cultural elements, our cultural continuum. Our approach brings a lot of difference – the approach whether we want to emphasize the diversity or intend to search the basic materials of culture, the permutation and combination of which make the difference.

Diversified Unity: Focus Northeast India- The Manipur Perspective

The Sanskriti Anveshak forum of Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture, Guwahati organized a talk cum interactive session on:  Diversified Unity: Focus Northeast India- The Manipur Perspective on Saturday, 15 June, 2013 in the VKIC premises at Uzan Bazar, Guwahati. The talk was delivered by Prof.  W. Nabakumar, Head, Department of Anthropology, Manipur University, Manipur. The lecture was the fifth of the on-going lecture-series on Diversified Unity: Focus Northeast India.

Chairman VKIC, Dipok Kr Barthakur, delivering the welcome address mentioned that this year is significant for VKIC as it the birth centenary year of Eknathji Ranade, the founding father of Vivekananda Kendra and Vivekananda Rock Memorial. His vision to establish a centre to study the culture of Northeast of India led to the inception of Vivekananda Institute of Culture (VKIC) in 1993.
